ARY Digital – Cheekh Ep 10 Review

Cheekh is one of those plays that keep getting better with every passing episode; with its latest airing, you get to know that Mannat (Saba Qamar) decided to move abroad but when she found out that her deceased friend Nayab’s father (Noor Hassan) was under arrest without an FIR, she went to the police station and launched complaint against her own brother in law i.e. Wajih (Bilal Abbas). Yawar (Aijazz Aslam) on the other hand, demands Mannat to withdraw her case but she refuses to do so and that’s where the whole family turns against her.

Bilal Abbas plays the character of Wajih convincingly while Saba Qamar as Mannat takes the drama forward as the daring, independent and caring woman. Although the play revolves around the suicide of her best friend (Ushna Shah) and Bilal Abbas seems to have done it, the suspense it holds makes you wait for the next episode.

The last few episodes of Cheekh were slow but from this episode onwards, there seems to be a shift in the direction; both writer Zanjabeel Asim Shah and director Badar Mehmood deserve the credit along with the producers Fahad Mustafa and Dr. Ali Kazmi who upped their game with a daring murder mystery. The impulsive acting of Bilal Abbas, the resistance and the depression he was showing to come out of jail and take his revenge, was amazing. Saba Qamar gives a powerful performance and it is she who will solve the case of her deceased friend’s murder, no matter how hard her in-laws led by the experienced Aijazz Aslam try.
