Australia Win Close Tie Despite Abid, Rizwan Centuries

Australia continued its excellent run against Pakistan by winning the fourth ODI by 6 runs and leading the series 4-0. The visitors scored 277 runs in their 50 overs thanks to Glenn Maxwell’s 98, Usman Khawaja’s 62 and Alex Carey’s 55.

In reply, Pakistan started slow but with debutant Abid Ali making a century in his first game, and Rizwan adding another century to his name, Pakistan looked on course to their first win of the series.

As soon as the two were dismissed, Abid Ali for 112 and Rizwan for 104, Pakistan slipped and fell short by 6 runs. Batsmen like Umar Akmal, Captain Imad Wasim and another newcomer Saad Ali fell like dominos as the Greenshirts let a good match go through their hands.

The series has been a disappointment for Pakistan despite the fact that the conditions in the UAE are more suitable to the hosts than the visitors. A clean sweep before the World Cup will damage the team’s morale and preparations.
