Pakistan is home to some of the most scenic natural beauties in the world, particularly in the Northern Areas. Efforts are being made on all fronts to promote tourism in the country.
For this purpose, Seema Alkarimi, a young Pakistani girl who hails from Hunza, has started an entrepreneurial venture in the Northern Areas, by the name of Lets Home, the aim of which is to connect people, who have a spare place to offer, to the travelers who need a place to stay while visiting the picturesque locations.
Lets Home is a marketplace operating in the beautiful mountains of the North, enabling people to lease or rent short-term lodging in guesthouses and houses.
If you have a spare room in your house, you simply register with them and the tourist visiting that place can stay at your place instead of spending big on hotel lodgings. It’s a customized bed and breakfast service for people spending their leisure time in the north of the country.
Seema’s intention is to redistribute the benefits of tourism by taking away from the monopolies of Big Hotels to bringing it to ordinary households. The idea is to use existing technology and build sustainable business models customized to the local market and overcome challenges such as economic disparity.
They are currently active on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Letshomee) and their website will be launched within two weeks.
This is how they operate in 3 basic steps:
Step 1: You give them all the details about the visit e.g. number of people, number of days, dates, what you are expecting or what you would prefer to experience and they will get back to you with a customized itinerary.
Step 2: Together they finalize the itinerary and complete the reservation at the most suitable host family, for your visit.
Step 3: You arrive and avail their services which also include optional services of local guides/food/rent a car service and other activities too based on your customized plan!
We’re all rooting for young entrepreneurs such as Seema Alkarimi and hope this business takes off!
